Susanna Arroyo Found Guilty Of Capital Murder

Susanna Arroyo will spend the rest of her life behind bars. This afternoon, a Smith County jury found the 23-year-old, guilty of capital murder. Arroyo, a reported member of the North Side Crips gang killed 18-year-old Adam Carrier. Carrier was found beaten and stabbed to death on Skidmore Lane in Tyler in 1999.

Carrier's mother, Jackie Barr, spoke with KLTV 7 News after the trial. She told us she has nothing to say to Arroyo, because Arroyo has not shown any remorse for what she did. "I don't think anything I can say will matter to her," said Barr. "She obviously has no feeling, has no heart. She smiled to us as she went out of the courtroom. What does that say? We mean nothing to her. She sat up there everyday this week, like it was another day. It didn't matter to her that she had taken someone's life."

Barr told us Adam was "a good kid", who never left home without telling her, "I love you, mom." Arroyo was extradited to Tyler from Mexico, after being on the run since 1999. Arroyo, along with four others are serving life sentences for Carrier's death. The sixth person is serving a 20-year prison term.
