Demonstrators Mark Roe V. Wade Anniversary

Anti-abortion activists are in the nation's capital today for a march to Congress and the Supreme Court.

Last night, abortion rights advocates marked the 33rd anniversary of the Supreme Court decision on Roe v. Wade by holding a candlelight vigil outside the high court.

Their signs read: "Alito-No Justice for Women" and "Keep Abortion Legal."

Abortion foes say they're encouraged by President Bush's choice of Samuel Alito to replace Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, a moderate who was often the court's swing vote.

Alito refused during his confirmation hearings to agree with assertions by Democrats that Roe v. Wade was "settled law."

Since the Supreme Court made abortion legal in 1973, 34 states have passed laws requiring that parents be notified or give consent when their underage daughters seek abortions.
