A young boy ventures out on Lake Palestine in a small boat. He has not been seen since. Around nine, on Tuesday, the search for a little boy that had been going on since late Tuesday afternoon was called off for the night. Authorities still hope for the best but hope fades with the daylight and the knowledge of how cold the water is, and how strong the wind is. This happened in Lakeway Harbor, in the Southwest corner of Smith County across Lake Palestine from Coffee City. Witnesses say the nine year old boy went out onto Lake Palestine in the small eight foot boat around 4 o'clock, Tuesday afternoon. Authorities believe the wind tipped the boat and then blew it away from him. The Smith County Sheriff's Department, volunteer firefighters, and the game warden were helping with the search. the boy had been playing with several others in the abandoned boat earlier today. Chris Green, a Game Warden with Texas Parks And Wildlife, confirmed this series of events: "After they played in the boat for a while, to my knowledge, they left the scene and went back up to the residence. He was at home, and then he came back here and got in the boat. He just wanted to go fishing. He didn't have any floatation with him." Wednesday, at first light, another round of searching. This time with more hands and more eyes. The search will include game wardens from other counties.
