Proud Of East Texas: Bowles Creek

For Dale Stanley of Overton, bluegrass music is a family tradition dating back generations. It's a tradition he's carried into his own home.

Dale's wife, Kella, plays the bass fiddle. His daughter, Bailey, sings. Extended family members, Ray Chandler on banjo and Mike Tucker on guitar, round out the gospel-bluegrass group Bowles Creek.

The group gets its name from the creek that runs right outside the Stanley's front door. When these musicians first got together four years ago, it was for fun jam sessions. But soon they were being invited to play at churches and local festivals. Now a bluegrass festival wouldn't be complete without Bowles Creek and their special brand of gospel bluegrass.
