Long-Time TJC Board Member Dies

Dr. Eugene Allen died Monday at the age of 86 after battling Alzheimer's disease. He was instrumental in starting the dental hygiene and dental assistant programs at TJC, along with a tennis tech program which helped players become coaches. The college says Dr. Allen was also a devoted man outside of being a board member. "[Dr. Allen] loved his family a lot, was a great family man and was a wonderful dentist. I think his patients loved him and of course for us [at Tyler Junior College] he was a wonderful board member for over 30 years," Tyler Junior College President Dr. William Crowe.
Flags will fly at half staff on the TJC campus this Friday, the day of Dr. Allen's memorial service. His name will also be added to the campus' memorial wall at Windsor Plaza.
