Governor Perry Say He's The Best Man For The Job

He'll run harder than he's ever run before. That's what Governor Rick Perry said this afternoon as he kicked off his re-election campaign in Tyler. In spite of tough criticism on school finance and property tax reform, the governor says he is the man to make Texas the greatest state it can be.

"More of your education money should go to the classroom, and less to the bureaucracy. And more should go to teachers because they are the heart and soul of any successfull education effort. They're it. That's why I have ordered one of America's first statewide merit pay system for our teachers. Those that do the best job, should get the best pay."

Perry continued, "I am the only candidate who has offered a detailed school finance reform plan, and the only one to offer a property tax cut that is paid for."

In spite of the work Governor Perry says he's done for Texas teachers, the Texas State Teachers Association threw their support to Carole Keeton Strayhorn. She's the Republican Texas Comptroller who recently decided to run for governor as an independent.
