A Teenage Boy Gets Hit By A Car While Riding His Bike

A teenage boy was riding his bike today with his friend, and ended up in the hospital after getting hit by a car. It happened around 1:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Waterford Park Apartments on Paluxy Drive in Tyler. The Tyler Fire Department says the boy suffered from minor injuries. Nearby residents say they've had trouble in the past with cars driving too fast in the parking lot. The boys friend said it all happened so fast.

"We were riding bikes and he came in front of the car and then all of a sudden boom and he flipped up in the air, landed on the hood and just fell, fell on the ground," said Quincy Polk, the victim's friend. "The car was going too fast really because he could have had a chance to go on across if he was going slower."

Tyler police ask people to slow down when driving in residential areas.
