CASA May Lose United Way Funding

An East Texas non-profit organization that helps children who are abused and neglected may lose its funding.

In November, CASA was ordered out of Judge Carole Clark's courtroom. That's where more than 50 percent of CASA's cases are handled. And without Judge Clarke, CASA cannot follow through on its service agreement with the United Way, potentially losing tens of thousands of dollars.

Billy Hall, Interim Executive Director of CASA says, "If it is not resolved within a short period of time there is possibility that they will withhold funding from us for February and March."

Hall says the united way will put the money in an escrow account. If the situation is resolved within a reasonable amount of time, CASA will get the funds.
