Longhorn Merchandise Flying Off Longview Shelves

Fans still haven't come down from the high of U-T's national championship win last night, and that excitement is turning into dollar signs for stores in Longview. It looked like a Christmas shopping frenzy, but this was U-T football fans looking to get a piece of history.

"Burnt orange" merchandise was flying off the shelves early this morning. Places like Academy sports and outdoors opened at 6 a-m for the rush.

"6 o'clock this morning we had doors, lined up outside with people waiting to get in , everybody was excited that we won, it was a close game" said Longview Academy manager Angela Fielden.

Official longhorns rose bowl championship merchandise, including the official locker room cap were already in stock with retailers anticipating a U-T victory. They went on sale this morning, and fans couldn't get enough.

"I watched everything till about 2 o'clock this morning, so I'm working on about 4 hours of sleep, this will all be gone by the time i get off work" said longhorn fan Wayne Fudge.

Many who bought the keepsakes this morning were still re-living a game they'll never forget.

"It was a great game the best game I've ever seen in my life" said U-T Fan Joyce Kendrell.

The first college football championship for Texas in over 35 years will have these fans saying "hook'em horns" for a long time to come. Retailers expect to have much more "longhorn" merchandise in by the next two days.

The John Tyler Lions always seem to look sharp in their uniforms. But thanks to East Texas lawyer Keith Miller, the Lions will look better and play safer. Helmets that advertise lowering the impact of hits, and possibly reduce the amount of concussions, come with a hefty price-tag. Miller's donation of 7,500 dollars, will go to help the lions cover that cost. "Keith Miller's been a big sponsor of John Tyler High School football program for years now.  I know it's...More >>

The last time we talked about the Kilgore Bulldogs, quarterback Buddy Jackson and wide receiver Jonathan Shepherd were apart of the 800-meter relay team that won gold at the 2017 state track meet. But today they are back in the pads, and looking to turn their speed into touchdowns.  Competing in District 9-4A, Kilgore has always had a strong run game that helped them become the 2016 District Champs.
