Tyler Rabbi Offers Thoughts On Ariel Sharon

Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is fighting for his life after suffering a massive stroke. He's already undergone seven hours of emergency surgery. Aides say they are operating under the assumption the 77-year-old will not return to work. Sharon's powers were transferred to Deputy Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.

Sharon has played a major role in both the military and politics in his country over the past several decades. Now, the question is how will his illness affect those politics? Tyler Rabbi Neal Katz says he hopes whoever takes Sharon's place, will continue the peace process in the Middle East. "I don't know what will happen in Israel or current elections but I do hope that anybody who takes power as the new prime minister would continue down that same path toward peace," said Katz.

Doctors treating Sharon can do little tonight except wait to see how badly he has been disabled. The Israeli Prime Minister is being kept sedated on a respirator.
