Eyes Of Texas On Pasadena

The eyes of Texas were upon Pasadena, California Wednesday night.

At the Sports Zone in Tyler it was a packed house. Owner Joe Everett said it was a first for a college game.
"Never, ever," Everett said. "I mean we were expecting a decent crowd and we were already full at 6 o'clock. So that's amazing for us, especially during a week day."

Longhorn spirit had even taken over those usually cheering against them, like Aggie fan Tim Young. "I've caught so much grief from my friends behind the whole Aggie thing," Tim said. "Living in Texas though, you've got to support Texas."

"I go to Alabama," said William Robbins. "We were number three for a while but got knocked out. I'm all for Texas."

We headed across town to a house party that was burnt orange and white central. All things Longhorn right down to the doorbell.
There were former students, parents of students, grandparents of students and those just happy to see a team from the Lone Star state battling for the title.

"This is like a holiday," said Dr. William Brown. "I shouldn't have gone to work today."

It has been 35 years since Texas won a national title. Donna Freeman was a UT student during the last championship.

"I've seen them through the years and I think this is more exciting, this is the National Championship."

The night belonged to both the Longhorns and their fans. The national title back on Texas soil after a three decade wait.

"This is about as good as it gets," Dr. Brown said.

It's been Pro Day after Pro Day across the country the past two weeks, and today it was Stephen F. I thought we had some excellent work on the bench press, Anthony Pullins knocked it out of the gym. We had some guys really jump well, run well, and then of course catch and throw well. I think its safe to say Jameis Winston likes to hang out with East Texas talent. The Tampa Bay quarterback was in Lufkin Wednesday night with former teammate Jorvorskie Lane to help the former Lufkin star talk with kids and support his "Lane of Hope" foundation. But, earlier Wednesday, a picture surfaced on social media of Winston working out with Adrian Peterson in Houston at a training facility.
