Longview Man Loves Clowning

A Longview man has devoted the last 32 years of his life to bringing smiles to young and old alike as a very familiar clown. At first glance, not many many East Texans would know who 63 year old Doug Sapp is, but in costume, he's easily recognized as "Happy the Clown". In a world that is often not very funny, he says laughter can be therapeutic.

For 32 years he's devoted himself to making kids and adults laugh, appearing at parties, festivals and even hospitals. From his Spring Hill area workshop, he's always trying to come up with the next magic trick , or next joke to get a big laugh, a feeling he hopes will live on.

"I love laughter, comedy , i want to make people laugh , smile , its something that's inside of me that I think the world needs more laughter" says Sapp.

Sapp says he enjoys his work immensely and has no desire to retire anytime soon. Bob Hallmark reporting.
