Gregg County Under "Zero Tolerance" Burn Ban

With drought conditions causing numerous fires, Gregg County authorities have decided to implement a zero tolerance burn ban.

Longview city and county fire officials joined police today in  to announce the county-wide ban. East Texas firefighters fought a dozen fires just yesterday alone.

The zero tolerance policy means anyone caught burning trash in the county will get a ticket. The same goes for people shooting fireworks within the Longview city limits.

A citation during the burn ban is a class C misdemeanor. Fines start at $330.
