Salvation Army Volunteers Distribute Angel Tree GIfts

The gifts have been bought and wrapped. Salvation Army volunteers distributed the generous gifts that hundreds of East Texans donated. It's all part of the Salvation Army's annual angel tree toy and food distribution.

Volunteers handed out gifts to more than 1,700 families in Smith County. Linda Edwards, Director of Community Relations at the Salvation Army says, "I've seen so many smiling faces, moms and dads who've come by to pick up their gifts. They are just elated to have something for their children, but the eyes and the smiles of the child when they see can't describe that."

The families say they are very grateful for those that gave to make their Christmas brighter. Along with toys, the Salvation Army volunteers also distributed more than 2,800 sacks of groceries and 800 bikes.
