The Tatum Eagles were undefeated in 2005, a perfect record. Saturday night, the Eagles landed the perfect ending to a perfect season.  Playing on the big stage of Texas Stadium, the Eagles claimed the 3A Division II championship.

The Eagles were down but never out in a close shootout.  The Hutto Hippos tried to make it interesting.  In the first quarter on a receiver reverse, Carson Blackmon threw downfield to Chance Blackmon. Blackmon took it to the endzone and Tatum went up 7-6. Hutto would take the 13-7 lead but Daylon McCoy, would make another big play. Setting up his team for the field goal. It would be 13-10.

After Hutto scored again, Tatum's Darnius Moore, would take the kickoff and go the distance. His touchdown made it 19-17 Hutto.

At the end of the second quarter, Cashas Pollard rolled out and find Carson Blackmon and he would find his way to the endzone.  Tatum took the 25-19 lead at the half.

In the third quarter action Hutto regained the lead, 26-25, Cashas Pollard found Darnius Moore on the 31 yard touchdown strike. It would be 31-26, Tatum.  Hutto took the lead once again, 34-31.

However, Lennon Creer had something to say about that. He found the endzone for the game winner.  The final score, Tatum 38-34.

Tatum finishes out a perfect season. After the game, Tatum Head Coach Andy Evans was overwhelmed.  "I'm one of those kind of guys that has to have my hand on everything and I just turned us over to God," he said. "I said if it happens it happens, if it doesn't it doesn't. I'll live with whatever happens. He's all the glory for all of this, I can promise you. Everyone of our kids played great tonight. Daylon's been our leader. He and Carson Blackmon have been our leaders all year. Those kids made plays when they needed to. We've got playmakers. "

I think its safe to say Jameis Winston likes to hang out with East Texas talent. The Tampa Bay quarterback was in Lufkin Wednesday night with former teammate Jorvorskie Lane to help the former Lufkin star talk with kids and support his "Lane of Hope" foundation. But, earlier Wednesday, a picture surfaced on social media of Winston working out with Adrian Peterson in Houston at a training facility.
