Small East Texas Town Says Goodbye To School Board President

One small East Texas town says goodbye to a man who dedicated his life to thousands of children. Seventy one-year-old Arp School Board President Wayne Roberts died Monday when he was hit by a train as he walked across the tracks. This afternoon, family and friends attended Roberts' funeral. Students say they will miss seeing Roberts' face at all their athletic events. He never missed a game. Those that worked with him say the children came first in his life.

"Everyone is just really focusing on what he has been in the past," said Laura Dacus who teaches at the junior high school. "We remember how much he has helped the students, and like I said earlier everything that he was about, was what was best for the students. He always focused on how he could improve the community and how he could improve the schools." Roberts served on the school board for 37 years.
