Accidental Kidnapping?

A frightening ordeal for Longview parents. J.P. Stewart had just gone into his mother's home for a moment when he came out and realized someone had stolen his car; with his 9 month old son Matthew still in the back seat.

"I came back to the front door and the car was gone and I freaked, I was helpless , it was a sudden shock, and I couldn't believe it was happening" said Stewart.

The Stewarts immediately called 911, and Longview Police put out an immediate "be on the lookout" for the car and baby.

"Your mind goes 90 to nothing you don't know what to think everything goes through your mind" said mother Lavella Stewart.

But then the car thief apparently realized he wasn't alone in the car. Just a few blocks away at the Living Gospel Church on Mobberly Avenue, church members discovered a baby, left in the back of the parking lot still in his car seat.

"Then you find him safe and sound its a relief, it'll never happen again" said lavella.

Police are still looking for the suspect and the vehicle, its a dark blue 2002 mitsubishi "gallant", texas license plate number "Y28-HRR".

Police say it was last seen in the area of Mobberly and Avalon avenue. Please give them a call if you have any information.
