Texas CASA Gives Recommendations To CASA Of East Texas
Wednesday, CASA board members listened to recommendations from Texas CASA, their parent organization. The list of recommendations includes setting up committees to find an outside administrator, program development, and volunteer development.
CASA of East Texas Chairman, John Carr hopes the changes will allow CASA back in Judge Clark's courtroom. Carr says, "We did adopt a plan that we believe encompasses a lot of things that will make our program stronger and stronger in ways that Judge Clark will have her concerns addressed."
Cathy Cockerham the Program Operations Director of Texas CASA says, "I think one of the main things that they need to do is look at their program services and be sure that they are providing their volunteers all of the support and assistance to do the very best that they can with the children." Both Carr and Cockerham hope to meet with Judge Clark on Thursday.
You may remember almost a month ago, Judge Clark issued an order preventing CASA in her courtroom. That came after the executive director was terminated and two staff members were put on administrative leave.
