Red Cross In Tyler Needs Volunteers

East Texans opened their hearts and wallets to help with hurricane relief efforts. More than 3,000 new volunteers were trained at Smith County's American Red Cross during that time. However, only three of the those new recruits remain. The Red Cross hopes more volunteers will reconsider and stay active. Susan Campbell, Director of Development at American Red Cross of Smith County says, "We mostly need them to be a member of our disaster relief action teams , so they can respond to disasters that happen on a daily basis, primarily house fires." Campbell says they've had a 63% rise in house fires since the spring of this year, so they need your help.
