Coach Kinne Thanks Team For Wonderful "Present"

It was the tale of two Eagles: the Canton Eagles versus the Tatum Eagles. Friday night, one team's season had to come to an end.
Tatum won the game 45 to 21.
This year's Canton team made it further than any other before them. After the shooting of head coach Gary Joe Kinne last spring, the team dedicated this season to him. After the game, an emotional Coach Kinne spoke to his team.
"You know I love everyone of you guys," Coach Kinne said. "I couldn't be more proud of you. You dedicated the season to me and I could not have had a better present than what you gave me this season. You're the reason I came back this year. You're the reason I wanted to get out of the bed in the morning."
After addressing the team, Coach Kinne spoke with KLTV.
"It's not about wins and losses," he said, "it's about the relationship we have with these kids and and what we teach them out on the field. These kids didn't let me down, they played their hearts out."
Canton won district for the first time in more than 40 years and before this year, the school had never gone to the quarterfinals.
