Police Call Out The K9 Unit In Search Of A Man Who Reportedly Stole A Vehicle

Police say a man is responsible for crashing into three cars tonight, and injuring a 12-year-old girl. It all started around 6:20 p.m. at the corner of Glenwood Boulevard and Gentry Parkway. Police say a man driving a jeep crashed into another vehicle there. He then ran across the street to a CVS Pharmacy, stole a car and hit another car in the parking lot as he drove away. Authorities say he also injured a 12-year-old girl. The man fled down Highway 69 North and ended up hitting a Chevy pick-up and swirving into the ditch by FM 2016. From there he fled on foot into the woods. Police say they searched the area with a K9 unit for about an hour, but did not find the man. The owners of the stolen car arrived at the scene around 8:15 p.m. to find their car in the ditch. The girl's sister who was injured at CVS pharmacy talked about what happened.

"We were standing outside the car when it happened," said Rachel McFarlin. "He was trying to get into the car and we tried to wrestle him to get out and that's when he threw it in gear. I got knocked back when she was trying to pull him out and then he went to back up and she tried to move back and when she did the door hit her and threw her across the parking lot."

The girl's sister, 12-year-old Elizabeth Garcia, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The man driving the Chevy pickup was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police are asking for help in finding the man. Witnesses describe him as a Black Male, about 5'11" with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a blue and gold basketball jersey with blue jeans. Police say he ran away barefoot. If you have any information on his whereabouts, call the Tyler Police Department.
