Highway 135 in Gregg county is now open, after being closed for more than a day. Yesterday, an 18-wheeler wrecked, killing the driver and spilling tons of chicken by-products. TX-DOT says the section of highway 135 from FM 2207 to FM 1252 was re-opened around 5 o'clock today.
Yesterday, a truck hit a bridge rail there and flipped over, spilling 20 tons of chicken by-products on the road and into a creek. The driver, 59-year-old Fred Baxter from Pittsburg, died in the accident. Haz-mat crews used a bio-micro-organism treatment on the spill to get rid of any chance of water or environmental contamination.
