Small East Texas Community Says Goodbye To Three Young Members

The town of Van said goodbye today to three children, killed in a weekend crash. Alicia, Alexia and Kyle Rodgers died Saturday when the car they were riding in went off the road and into a creek in Bell County. The children were just ten and four years. Their mother, 34-year-old Tina Rodgers, and her sister were also in the car, but survived the crash. Family and community members attended a funeral service for the Rodgers children today in Van. Before the service, their father spoke to us about his wife's condition and how the community has come together to show support.

"She is as well as she can be expected, like I said she blamed herself for a lot of it," said Neill Rodgers, the childrens' father. "I just don't want anyone to blame her because it wasn't her fault."

"I didn't know how many hearts that they touched." said Neill Rodgers. "You never know until something bad happens, but there is a lot of people. I didn't know I knew this many people, not just family and everything." Neill Rodgers also says he hopes the bridge where the accident occurred will be better maintained, to prevent any more tragedies.
