A Thanksgiving feast in Longview for the less fortunate, all thanks to volunteers at a local rescue mission. The Hiway 80 rescue mission in Longview will be serving turkey dinner for the next two days for people in the community.
Volunteers from local churchs are pitching in to help serve around 2,500 meals, both at the mission and through Meals on Wheels. For those involved, it is a chance to help make the holidays a little more joyful for those in need.
"When someone comes in and they're hungry and then they leave because their stomach is warm that's really exciting", says mission director Tony Chung.
The dinner will be tomorrow morning at 11 at the rescue mission. They're also accepting donations of hams, turkeys, potatoes, sugar, flour and monetary donationd for the upcoming holiday season. Donations can be dropped off at the mission on Avenue D.
