Garland Owls End John Tyler's Storybook Season

The John Tyler Lions made the playoffs for the first time in five years. The Lions are being called the biggest turn around story in the state.
The season was put on the line Saturday afternoon when JT played the Garland Owls at Mesquite's Hanby stadium.
The Lions took to the field wearing the "Cujo" jerseys.
In the second quarter, JT quarterback Kerry Maddox ran the quarterback option, juked a Garland defender and took it in for a Lion touchdown and it was 7 to 0 John Tyler.
Garland came right back though. Running back Johnny Wooten hit a hole right up the middle of the Cujo defense and outran John Tyler defenders for a 68 yard touchdown run. That tied the game at 7-all.
Right before the half, JT's Kerry Maddux was at it again.
He took the snap, shook two Garland defenders and raced to the corner of the endzone for 11 yard touchdown. John Tyler went up 14 to 7 at the half.
JT would get one more touchdown.
However in the second half Garland would make their push, tying the game and in the last minutes of the fourth quarter the Owls took the lead.
The Owls go on to win it by one, 21 to 20, bringing an end to John Tyler's storybook season.
