Escaped Death Row Inmate Waives Extradition

The death row escapee captured last night in Louisiana is heading back to Texas.

Charles Thompson has waived his extradition hearing and will be returned to the state where he made his escape.

On Thursday, he strolled out of jail wearing smuggled clothes and carrying a fake I-D.

He was captured three days later talking on a pay phone while drunk outside a liquor store in Shreveport.

Thompson was sentenced to death in October for the 1988 shooting deaths of his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend.
