Longview Police will soon be responding in special units to high crime and drug activity areas across the city. That announcement was made by the police chief at a meeting last night where he outlined a new "neighborhood resource unit". The unit would focus efforts on areas with high drug activity and other crimes.
"These officers will be free from answering routine calls and it will allow us to go into different neighborhoods different areas of town where we're experiencing specific problems and be able to deal with problems in an efficient manner" said unit leader Lieutenant Mike bishop.
No timetable has been given to implement the new unit.
