It's open season on Panthers. That's because the target sits squarely on the backs of Bullard's basketball team, as the high school basketball season officially opens today. The Bullard boys are the highest ranked team in East Texas, sitting at number two in the state in 3A. You might remember the epic battles they had with district rival and eventual state champion Van last year. Most of that team is back, including standout Brodie Green.
"It's a good feeling, first of all, being ranked that high coming off preseason," said Green, "but rankings don't mean nothing at the moment. As the season goes, if the ranking goes up then that'll be good, but right now, we're pretting happy to be second."
"These guys have been playing together since they were 5-6 years old," said head coach Ryan Tomlin, "and we've got nine of them back this year, and four starters, so it's exciting."
The Panthers open their season November 15, hosting Liberty-Eylau.
