He's the Acting Inspector General for the Department of Defense and he's from East Texas. This weekend, Thomas Gimble, from Lindale, returned home to visit family and friends.
On September 10th, Gimble was appointed Acting Inspector General. His family presented him with the flag that was flown on the state capitol the day he was appointed.
As Acting Inspector, Gimble works directly with the Secretary of Defense on issues, such as the prevention of fraud, waste and abuse. Currently, he's working on preventing fraud in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
"Instead of working behind the scenes you kind of have to be the point person," said Gimble. "I've had the opportunity in the last month to testify in front of Congress three times. We only average about six times, so there's a lot of things going on."
Gimble heads back to Washington D.C. tomorrow.
