People Line Up For Flu Shots At Tyler Mall

People lined up for flu shots in Tyler. Today, both flu and pneumonia shots were available at the Broadway Square Mall. The vaccines given, are made for adults. You must be at least 18 and not pregnant in order to receive one. Nurses say it takes two weeks for the flu vaccine to work and three weeks for the pneumonia vaccine to kick in, so the time is now to get one.

"Today we are serving the general public," said Brenda Gray, Nurse for All Care Home Health. "We do want to reach our high-risk individuals, which would be our senior citizens, those with asthma conditions and any other immune deficiency disorders that would make you catch the flu."

You can get your shot tomorrow from 12 p.m.-6:00 p.m. in front of Dillard's in the mall. Flu shots are $26 and pneumonia shots are $36. There is no charge for medicare patients. If you can't make it to the mall tomorrow, the shots will be there again the weekend of November 4th. Flu season started this month and goes till February.
