Indicted Texas Congressman Tom DeLay Turns Himself In

Indicted Texas Congressman Tom DeLay today turned himself in to authorities in Houston. DeLay was photographed, fingerprinted and released on bond on state conspiracy and money laundering charges -- then he left. The Republican from Sugar Land faces arraignment tomorrow in Austin.

The former U.S. House Majority Leader had stopped at the Harris County sheriff's bonding office. He posted $10,000 bond. DeLay, accompanied by his attorney, Dick DeGuerin, showed up shortly after noon, appeared before a judge and was gone in less than 30 minutes. DeLay and two political associates have been indicted in Austin in an alleged scheme to violate state election law. They're accused of illegally funneling corporate donations to Republican Texas legislative candidates in 2002. All three say they're innocent.
