Saddam Pleads Not Guilty

Former Iraqi President Saddam entered an Iraq courtroom, escorted by two guards, with a Koran in his hand. He looked subdued, but he proved difficult the moment his name was called refusing to identify himself again and again and questioning the court's authority.

The judge stayed calm and looked somewhat amused, allowing Saddam to continue. When he continued to refuse to identify himself, the judge told him to sit down. The other seven defendents complained to the judge that they were not allowed to wear headcovers which were quickly brought in.

Saddam and senior members of his regime are on trial for the massacre of more than 150 men and boys in this town in 1982 .
