Donations have started to come in for the Flint-Gresham Fire Department. Last week we told you the fire department was in financial trouble. Before our story ran, it had a $35,000 deficit. The fire department was worried it would have to start selling equipment that is needed to keep the community safe. So far, the department says about $1,000 in donations have come in.
"A lot of people didn't know that were as bad off as we were and a lot of people that are new to the area weren't aware that we were their fire department that was protecting them and that we relied on just donations coming in to support us and run this fire department," said Lieutenant Kevin Sobotka. The fire department is still in great need of donations. If you want to help contact the Flint-Gresham Fire Department.
