ETMC forum focuses on breast cancer treatment advances Cancer specialists will focus on advances in breast cancer treatment at the next free KnowledgeFirst forum at noon , Monday, Oct. 17, in the ETMC Pavilion.
"Improving the Odds: Advances in Breast Care" is the program title. "No one wants to think about breast cancer, but it's important to know about the available treatment options in order to make good healthcare choices," said Karen Cranford, RN, KnowledgeFirst coordinator.
Speakers will include Michael Klouda, MD, medical director of the ETMC Breast Care Center , and Gary Gross, MD , oncologist with the Blood and Cancer Center of East Texas. "This is our annual Breast Care Month KnowledgeFirst," Ms. Cranford noted.
"Each October we provide a program designed to arm women with a better understanding of breast cancer, the second leading cause of cancer death among women." The American Cancer Society estimates 40,410 women will die from breast cancer in 2005.
