East Texas Man Has Been Handcrafting Violins For Eight Decades

George Lloyd has been handcrafting violins for 83 years. He made his first violin out of an apple box when he was only ten. Handcrafting the instruments according to designs created by the great violin maker, Stradivarius, Lloyd takes about 200 hours to complete a violin. No longer depending on apple crates, Lloyd uses European spruce, maple, pine, and mesquite. Lloyd will be demonstrating his violin making at the Henderson syrup festival, Saturday, November 12th.
