Ore City Soldier Meets President

President Bush pays a surprise visit to an East Texas soldier at a Washington D.C. hospital. Army Corporal Eli Cook was in Walter Reed Army Medical Center this week when the commander-in-chief stopped in to thank him for his service. Cook was on patrol in Afghanistan in August 2004 when his vehicle was hit by guerillas RPG and mortar fire.

He suffered massive leg and hip wounds. In January, his hometown of Gladewater presented Cook a city medallion. He's been awarded a purple heart and a bronze star for bravery, and continues undergoing treatment at Walter Reed Hospital.
