Star College Donates To The Red Cross

During the past month, if you got a hair cut or a manicure at Star College you also donated to the American Red Cross. Star College says it wanted to do something to help those affected by Hurricane Katrina. That's why they took a dollar off all hair cuts and manicures and gave it to the Red Cross. They also held a raffle. Donations from the community, such as a television and gas cards made the raffle possible. In the end, Star College raised $1,800.00.

"Our community has been wonderful about coming in and helping with the donations to buy the raffle tickets," said Lynne Thompson, Owner of Star College. "We've had people coming in that haven't come in before because they knew we were taking donations and selling raffle tickets for the hurricane victims." The Red Cross says it's very honored, and the money will go towards helping evacuees get back home and move on with their lives. The Red Cross also says it is still in need of monetary donations.
