Cat Keeps Hurricane Rita Evacuee In High Spirits

A Hurricane Rita evacuee in Tyler is keeping his spirits high, thanks to his feline friend. Loggie Lagatella,73, and his cat, Kitu, made the trip up to Tyler last week from Seabrook -- 30 miles north of Galveston.

Lagatella was brought to the Reunion Plaza Senior Care Center from a shelter, but he couldn't bring his companion with him. The Humane Society has been taking care of the animal and bringing Kitu over to visit Lagatella. "That's my family. My little kitty doesn't ask that much of me. She just wants her food and her water and she's a real comfort. She really is," said Lagatella.

Reunion Plaza staff is working to get Lagatella and Kitu transported back to their home together in Seabrook soon.
