Stewart Regional Blood Center
Thanks Donors & Asks Them To Come Back In 56 Days!
According to Lorie Schenck, Director of Marketing & Communications at Stewart Regional Blood Center, "We would like to thank all the East Texans who have donated blood since hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Right now we have four out of eight blood types in the good category, which means we have a three day supply of those blood types, however we also have four blood types in the critical category which means we have less than a one day supply of those blood types.
We need to have all blood types in the good category at all times so that when a disaster hits we are prepared! Everyone who donates needs to mark 56 days out on their calendar as a reminder to donate again. Whole blood can be donated up to six times per year with a shelf life of just 42 days, so we have to have donors every day to keep the supply stable."
Anyone who is in general good health, weighs at least 110 pounds, and is at least 17 years old may be eligible to donate life saving blood. Please bring a valid drivers license and eat a good meal before donating. Golfers are still needed for our " Scramble Fore Life" charity golf tournament will take place at Eagle's Bluff Country Club in Bullard on October 10 th with a 1 pm shot gun start.
