LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - According to Longview police, they are working the scene where two people were shot.

The shooting occurred at about 3:43 p.m. in the 2400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, near the corner of MLK and Sapphire. A parking lot at that location has been roped off by police officers and investigators who are scouring the scene and speaking with witnesses. Officers later confirmed that two men were shot, and one has died.

The deceased man was identified as a 29-year-old male, Lee Brightman Jr. The other man who was shot was 18, and he sustained a non-life-threatening injury, according to police.

Witnesses in a nearby barber shop say they heard gunfire outside, and ran into the back of the shop for cover. They said that one of the people who had been shot then came into the barber shop asking for help. The people in the shop called 911.

Two people were transported from the area by ambulance. Their condition has not been released at this time.
