COPY-Bush returning to Gulf Coast today

WHITE HOUSE President Bush is becoming a frequent visitor to the hurricane zone along the Gulf Coast.

He's returning to the area today for an aerial tour of the Texas-Louisiana border region walloped by Hurricane Rita's gales and storm surge. Bush also plans to meet with storm victims and thank those who are helping out.

The president's seventh trip to the region since Hurricane Katrina comes a day after he urged Americans to postpone unnecessary travel to conserve fuel. He will use a jumbo jet, a fleet of helicopters and a motorcade of vans and S-U-Vs.

But spokesman Scott McClellan says this is essential travel -- so the president can get a first-hand look at the relief efforts.
