Longtime Smith County Employee Running For Commissioner

Longtime Smith County employee Bill McGinnis has announced he's running for County Commissioner Precinct 2.

McGinnis has worked for Smith County since 1987, coordinating the agenda and public relations for the Court. He says the most important duty of a county commissioner isn't to sound off, but to listen.

"Cooperation between members of the Court and other members of the community is paramount and that's the chief things I've learned over the years. It really works when you get other people you're working with and listen to what they have to say," McGinnis said at his Monday announcement.

The Precinct 2 seat is currently held by David Stein, who was appointed to complete the term of Don Pinkerton, who died back in April.

Pinkerton's widow, Pat, is the new campaign treasurer for McGinnis.
