SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - A suspect is in custody after leading officials on a high-speed pursuit through Smith County.

According to the Department of Public Safety,  Derrick Markeith Francis, 27 of Lindale has been arrested after he attempting to evade troopers, Friday.

At about 12:15 p.m. Friday, deputies with the Smith County Sheriff's Office assisted another agency with a high-speed chase, according to Sergeant Darrell Coslin. According to DPS, the pursuit started southbound on FM-14 from Wood County.  Francis stopped just south of FM-2015 in Smith County and fled on foot. Troopers were able to locate Francis and took him into custody.

Francis was taken to the Wood County jail.
