Longview officials investigate vacant house fire as arson

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - The Longview Fire Marshal's Office is investigating a fire at a vacant home as a possible arson case.

On Aug. 18, the Longview Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at a residence located at 511 Louisana Street. According to the search warrant affidavit, the next-door neighbor reported waking up to a booming sound and later saw the house next door on fire.

The neighbor reported the house had been vacant for years and the Gregg County Appraisal couldn't locate or make contact with a property owner.

The affidavit state officials on scene determined the fire was "incendiary" due to a pour pattern going up the wheelchair ramp to the front porch.

It was also reported that a Longview police officer went to the Zippy's J at the corner of East Marshall and Eastman Road where the clerk state a woman had come in with information about who started the fire.

Officials requested permission to search the house for further evidence of arson. Based on the search, they believe the fire was set on purpose.
