TYLER, TX (KLTV) - The Tyler Pounds Regional Airport will receive federal aid for a future reconstruction project.
According to the Office of Senator John Cornyn, the airport was awarded an $11.5 million grant, funded through the Federal Aviation Administration's Airport Improvement Program.
In a press release for Cornyn's office, it's stated the grant will go towards reconstructing the airport's taxiway and runway.
"In our mobile society, we need infrastructure that can keep up with our increasing demands," said Senator Cornyn in a press release. "Thanks to this grant, the Tyler airport will be more efficient and ultimately safer for traveling Texans."
