LAKE O' THE PINES, TX (KLTV) - Authorities in Morris County are investigating a vehicle that was found submerged in Lake O' The Pines.

Morris County Sheriff's Office was notified Sunday after a private boat hit the top of the car and broke its propeller.

John Campell, a former law enforcement officer, said he was called out to help lift the car out of the water after Park Rangers marked the vehicle for extraction on Monday. The car appeared to be about 40 to 50 yards from shore, and Campell noted that moss was growing on it f and rust formed on the back of the cab, which likely meant "it'd been there for a while."

The lake is only 80-percent full, according to Water Data for Texas, which Campbell believes could be why the car became visible.

Morris County officials did not speculate as to why the car was submerged in the lake.
