Longview Continues Clean Up In The Aftermath Of Rita

The City of Longview was already at work today cleaning up the damage Rita left behind. The Parks and Recreation Deparment was out clearing roads of debris all day. Residents were busy cleaning up their properties as well. Even some evacuees did their share of work today.

"I'm helping my aunt clean up her front yard.  I'm waiting to go home on Tuesday. They say that my area of Houston, we're not allowed back until Tuesday, so I guess we're stuck here till Tuesday," said 26-year-old Michael Lopez.

The city will begin picking up debris from residences starting tomorrow. City officials are advising that you call the Sanitation Department at 903-237-1250 to let them know you need them to come by.

Longview Mayor Jay Dean says the clean up should be complete by the end of next week.
