Grand jury indicts Tyler man accused of dragging officer through car window

TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

A man who allegedly dragged an officer through the window of a car has now been indicted.

Randall Elder, 21, of Tyler was indicted Aug. 2 by a grand jury, according to Smith County judicial records.

Elder was arrested on May 28 at Saige Meadows Apartment by Tyler Police Department officers.

According to a statement from the department at the time of his arrest, officers were there to take Elder into custody for a previous charge when an officer smelled marijuana in his vehicle.

Elder allegedly grabbed an officer, pulled him into his vehicle through the passenger side window and dragged him out onto the concrete. The officer had several abrasions and his equipment was damaged, the department said.
