TYLER, TX (KLTV) - The Caldwell Zoo in Tyler unveiled a new addition to the Africa exhibit Wednesday, and she is adorable.
Lulu the giraffe is 11 days old Wednesday. She is a little more than six feet tall, weighing in at 150 pounds, and she is healthy and playful.
Her mother Cricket gave birth to a little boy in 2014, but he was taken to a zoo in Mississippi.
Luckily, because Lulu is a female, Tyler gets to keep her.
"She got up pretty quickly for a baby and was moving around really well and mom was licking her and cleaning her, normally it can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours for a baby to get up so for us we got really that she got on her feet quickly and pretty easily," giraffe keeper Kristen Jolly says.
The zoo says Lulu can be seen inside her gated exhibit for the next couple of weeks until she is big enough to be outside with her parents.
