One person killed in Henderson County motorcycle crash

HENDERSON COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - A motorcycle crash in Henderson County killed one person and critically injured another Saturday.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, troopers responded to the crash on FM 315 just south of Coffee City.

A preliminary investigation showed that the driver of the 1994 Harley Davidson motorcycle, 73-year old Patricia Hall Knapp of Chandler, was traveling north on FM 315.

DPS said the motorcycle entered a curve at an unsafe speed. They said the motorcycle left the roadway to the west and continued through the grass shoulder and struck an incline for a culvert at Waterwood Drive and struck a tree.

Knapp and the passenger, 48-year old James Lee Kratzer of Chandler, were both thrown from the motorcycle. DPS said that neither were wearing a helmet.

Knapp was transported to Christus Trinity Mother Frances where she later died from injuries. Kratzer was flown to UT Health Tyler in critical condition.
